College Applications & Naviance

Steps for College Application Process

Step 1: Most of our students are using the Common Application

Set up a Common App account

Set up an account at www.commonapp.org

Under the “Recommenders & FERPA” section you will find the FERPA statement Fill out the FERPA completely. Students should consider waiving their right of review, this assures confidentiality (to discuss this further, see your counselor)

Step 2: Matching Naviance and Common App Accounts

You can only match accounts AFTER setting up a Common App account and selecting at least one college.

Students can access Naviance through their Clever.com account

Go to your Naviance Student account and click on the Colleges tab and then Colleges I’m Applying To - you will see a message that walks you through matching your accounts

Step 3: Request Teacher Recommendation

**All Teachers should be asked IN PERSON before they are requested on Naviance**

Request letters under the Colleges >Under Apply to College click on Letters of  Recommendation

Click on “Add requests” or the + icon

Select teachers from the Teacher List and click on “Update Requests”

Students can select a “General” request that will go to all colleges that a student is applying to (if the college accepts recommendations) or students can make specific requests to only certain colleges.

** If students are requesting a letter of recommendation from someone outside of the school, that should be requested through the Common App., not Naviance.

*** If a student is not applying through the Common App., the teacher recommendations and transcripts should still be requested through Naviance. To do that, students need to add the college in Naviance.

Step 4: Counselor Recommendation Form

Some colleges require a school counselor recommendation.  Fill out the Google Form that Dr. Zack sent all seniors titled, CCounselor Letter of Recommendation.
It is optional for students to also submit a resume to Dr. Zack or make an appointment with her.

Step 5: Requesting Transcripts

Transcripts must be requested at least 5 school days in advance of the application deadline.

Use the College Application Submission form to have your transcripts sent.
